Hi, I'm Michael Walker, Secondary Technology Integrationist for Edina Pulic Schools in Edina, MN. I work with staff at our two middle schools and high school to incorporate technology to enhance instruction and learning. Currently as part of my job I am running a 1:1 Laptop Learning pilot.
Prior to coming to Edina, I taught at the High School and was a technology coordinator at the Middle School level in Lakeville, MN for 22 years. I received my Masters in Learning Technology from St.Mary's University in 2002. I am also an adjunct professor at Hamline University in the Graduate School of Education, teaching courses in their Educational Technology Certificate and K-8 Keyboarding for Computer Applications Licensure program.
For the past 2 1/2 years I have been exploring how Web 2.0 tools can be incorporated into K-12 education to provide authentic learning experiences for students. Last January, I had the pleasure of attending the Educon 2.1 conference at the Science and Leadership Academy in Philadelphia. There I met John Pederson, who asked if I'd be interested in trying to pull together a Wisconsin/Minnesota PLP cohort. Well with the help of Sheryl and Will and the good folks in New Hampshire, here we are! I love learning, and I'm really looking forward to embarking on this learning journey with all of you!
I live in Minneapolis, with my wife and 2 children near the shores of Lake Harriet, and I am a proud shareholder of the Green Bay Packers!
